Liturgical Ministries
Volunteers in the liturgical ministries serve God and the parish by assisting in various capacities related to the Holy Mass or other liturgies.
Altar Flowers
This ministry changes altar flowers according to Season and Holy Days. They also decorate the Church for Lent & Advent.
Altar Servers
Altar Serving is a ministry for youth and adult altar servers, that have received their First Communion, who wish to assist the Priest at the celebration of the Eucharist.
The altar servers help to create an atmosphere of reverence during the procession and help the presider during the mass so the presider may give his full attention to leading the congregation through the celebration.
Specific responsibilities are to carry the cross, the processional candles, hold the Sacramentary or other prayer book for the priest celebrant when he is not at the altar, carry the incense and censer, prepare the altar for the Liturgy of the Eucharist, help with hand washing of the priest during the preparation of the gifts, and assist the priest celebrant and deacon as necessary. Altar servers may also be needed to serve for special liturgies, weddings, funerals, and Stations of the Cross. Youth Altar servers are welcome.
Youth Altar Servers, contact Christine Ollive.
Adult Altar Servers, contact Father Pinti.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Eucharistic Ministers have an active role in assisting the priest to help distribute the Eucharist under both species during the Celebration of Mass.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist assist the priest in ministering Christ's body and blood to the People of God. Parishioners are needed to distribute the Eucharist at all Masses, including Holy Day Masses. The schedule is flexible. Training leading to certification is required and is held twice a year or by appointment. We have both winter and full-time EM's.
They are baptized and confirmed practicing Catholics with a desire to serve God and their parish. Special training is provided. Contact the Sacristan on duty after Mass for more information or if you are interested in joining this ministry.
Lectors
NOVEMBER & DECEMBER 2024, JANUARY 2025 SCHEDULE
Lectors proclaim God's word at each liturgy when they read Scripture from the Old and New Testaments.
Lectors also read the announcements before Mass begins and lead the congregation during the prayers of the faithful. Besides the weekend liturgies, lectors are also scheduled for seasonal and holy day liturgies, daily liturgies and other faith-related liturgies. Meetings are held twice a year for the purpose of ongoing training. We have both Winter lectors and Year round lectors.
